MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

This league will introduce players to having a baseball pitched to them by a coach, player or ball machine.  It is an instructional baseball program offering advanced skill development and challenging game competition.  Teams will be formed after a week of practice with games to follow.  One year of coach pitch suggested prior to enrolling for this league.  Age as of May 1st 2007.

 

             Ages: 9 & 10 (boys & girls welcome)

             Thursday evenings @ 5:30 & 6:30

Teams are coached by the Recreation Staff with games on Tuesday evenings and Thursday afternoons. The skills evaluation for all participants will be held Thursday morning, June 14th from 9-10:30 and from 1-2:30 p.m. Please attend one of the above times. Age as of May 1st, 2007. Ages: 9-12 (currently 4h -6th grade) Season begins week of June 18th Place: Wilson Park Game Days: Tuesdays at 4:45 & 6:30 p.m. Thursdays at 1 & 2:45 p.m. Practice Days: Monday afternoons 1-2:15 p.m. Wednesday mornings 9-10:15 a.m. YOUTH BASEBALL PROGRAMS (ages 9-12) YOUTH SOFTBALL PROGRAMS (ages 4-8)Text Box: COACH PITCH (boys & girls) Introduction of the skill of hitting a ball pitched by a coach - a tee will be used for batters who do not hit a fair ball within 4 pitches. This league is designed to improve throwing mechanics, catching balls thrown by other fielders and fielding both ground balls and fly balls. A soft core softball will be used. One year of tee ball suggested prior to enrolling for this league. Ages: 7 & 8 (1st & 2nd grade) Mondays at 5:45 & 6:45 Date: June 18 - July 30 Place: Wilson Park Text Box: GIRLS SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL This is a coach pitch league with an emphasis on the fundamentals of softball. Players will also be introduced to pitching, catching, proper batting technique and fielding. Ages: 9 & 10 (3rd & 4th grade) Tuesday mornings 9-10:30 a.m. Begins June 12th - July 24th Place: Wilson Park

GIRLS TRAVELING SOFTBALL LEAGUE

This is a recreation league for girls in 5th - 8th grade with games scheduled with area teams.  It is a parent run league with support from the Recreation Department.

             Teams: 5th & 6th grade ***  7th & 8th grade

GIRLS SOFTBALL PROGRAMS (ages 9-12)

Parent coaches are needed for each  pee wee tee ball team,  coach pitch team & minor league team before the season starts.  If you can help coach or assistant coach your child’s team please fill in your name and the name of the league on your child’s registration form.  A volunteer coach packet will be mailed to you.  Thank You.
Text Box: PEE WEE TEE BALL (boys & girls) The emphasis for pee wee ball will be on the basic rules, skills and sportsmanship of baseball. A tee and soft ball will be used to assist in the teaching of the rules and game strategies.
