A PARENTS PROMISE
TO PUT CHILDREN FIRST
In order to foster a positive,
pleasant experience for my child who is participating in sports,
I will promise to do the following:
v  As a parent I promise to put my child’s emotional and physical needs of ahead of my own individual desire to win.

v   As a parent I promise to remember that children learn best by example. Therefore, I promise to encourage the players of both teams with positive words for all players and will refrain from making rude and insulting comments to any player, parent, official, coach or other staff.
v  As a parent I promise to show respect for the coaches of my child by giving them support, helping them when necessary and by communicating with them.
v  As a parent I promise to insist that my child have a safe and healthy sporting environment that is free of tobacco, drugs and alcohol and will refrain from their use at any and all youth sporting events.
v  As a parent I promise to look over and understand the rules of each of the sports that my child participates in and will help the coach with teaching these rules to my child.
v  As a parent I promise to remember that my child plays sports for their enjoyment and not mine.
v  As a parent I promise to remember that the sporting event is for the children and not the adults.

A PLAYERS PROMISE

  As a player I promise to first and foremost have fun!
*
As a player I promise to understand that winning isn’t everything and that making friends and learning new things are most important.
*
As a player I promise to respect my coach, which means listening, participating in all drills and activities and communicating with my coach.
*
As a player I promise to put the good of the team above my own, which means sportsmanship and being a team player.  It also means understanding that all players play at different abilities and that by being a team player I will not make fun of or single out players of my team who are skilled differently.
*
As a player I promise to follow the rules of the building.  This means coming in street shoes and changing into game shoes.  Only bringing water to drink and helping to clean up after our game.  I will also listen to the building supervisor and follow their rules when asked to do so.
*
As a player I promise to be a good sport which means helping players off the floor, acknowledging a good shot, playing fair not playing rough, shaking hands at the end of the game, watching my language and always being nice.
*
As a player I promise to learn the rules and follow the rules of the game at all times.  If I need help with a rule I will ask the coach to help me better understand.

As a player I promise to give my all and do my best.
