2008 Dodgeville Slow-Pitch Rules
1.  All team captains serve as protest committee.  In case of a tie, city recreation department will vote.

3.  Roster is open through the end of the first round.  17 person roster closes after the first round is completed.  You may only play for one team.  Players must have played in three league games to be eligible for playoffs.
4. Failure to umpire will result in forfeit of one game in the league tournament.  Failure to umpire a second time will result in forfeiture of the league tournament.  
5. There is no minimum number of players needed to start the game.  Players that come late must either be substituted for another player or placed at the end of the lineup. 
6.  Mandatory 15 run rule after 5 innings.  10 run rule after 6 innings,
6.  Courtesy runner is allowed, must be the person who made last out.  A courtesy runner will not be allowed for a slow runner.
8.  Unlimited arc.  (46' distance to home plate).  Minimum 6'.
9.  Free substitution rule.
10.  Teams are allowed to play 10 in the field, but may bat the entire roster.  If the entire roster bats and a person leaves or is injured, their spot in the batting order is considered an out.
11.  If a player is added to a lineup once a team has hit through their batting order, the first time the new batter hits only two outs will be given to the batting team in that inning.
12.  NO courtesy step allowed.  
13.  One base on all overthrows that go past the fence line.
14.  Balls and strikes consist of the following:
*3 balls constitutes a walk. 
An out is:
* 2 called strikes
*2 foul balls
*1 swing & miss
*any combination of a, b, or c 
15.  Balls and score books should be given to the coordinator after games.
16.  Forfeiture of game occurs after 15 minutes from end of previous game or 7:15 if playing the first game.  Team captains encouraged to enforce this rule.
17.  GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP IS EXPECTED.
18.  No metal/steel spikes allowed.
19.  Team Captain responsible for game ball.  Additional balls needed can be purchased through the rec department.
20.  The runner always takes the mat and the catcher always takes the plate.  Any intentional collisions on the part of the runner will be an automatic out.  It will be up to the umpire’s discretion if he feels the catcher is interfering with the play.
21.  Umpires are live on the field.  If the balls hits an umpire, the ball is still playable.  
22. There is a limit of 5 over the fence home runs per team per inning.  After 5 over the fence home runs, anymore home runs hit over the fence will be a single.
23. No Miken bats allowed.
24. We will attempt to play all scheduled games whenever possible.  Rainouts will not be determined during the day, unless it is very obvious that the field is unplayable.  The Parks Department does not decide before 4:00 p.m. whether the diamonds are playable.  In the event of rain, please listen to D99.3 for cancellations or call the Recreation Department at 930.5358.  Captains are asked to notify the remaining team members once a game is called due to rain.  All games will be called by 6:00 p.m.
25. Last team to leave the park:  please shut lights off and clean up after yourselves.  Thank you.
COMMENTS:
All comments regarding the officials or field conditions, should be made in writing.  When a complaint is lodged, the department will make a check of the situation and, if warranted, take proper steps to improve the situation.
SLOW-PITCH FACTS:
The mat for men’s slowpitch is 17 inches wide and 30 inches long.
The pitcher’s mound for slow-pitch should be at 46 - 50 feet.  However, mounds will vary due to Cal Ripken baseball and girls traveling softball.  We will do our best to let you know where the mounds are set.
